Google + is an amazing trending social media platform. It is a great tool to attract potential customers and interact with them to create relationships. The following are tips on what you should do to make the most of your Google + account!

Business Pages

To create a Business page on Google + you must have your own personal profile. This includes selecting your business category, adding business keywords to your tagline and including links to other social media websites to your overview. The first thing you are prompted to do when creating the business page is selecting which category best defines your business. This will help potential customers find your business when they search for that category. When adding keywords, remember to only add a few details relevant to your business as keyword stuffing can have a negative effect on your Google ranking. Once completed these sections allow your page to be found and can easily transfer viewers from your Google plus page to all other relevant business pages. Just as your keywords have to be relevant, your cover photo should be as well. Just remember when choosing a cover photo to use on close to the maximum size restriction to prevent the image from coming out grainy.

Use Circles

googleplus-circleUnlike Facebook or Twitter, in Google + you can segment the people you follow. This allows you to send targeted posts to the different circles you are a part of based on their relevant interests. This can be a great tool if you are in a business with multiple types of products or services that are targeted at different demographics. As great as circles are for targeting your audience, be wary of posting to them too often. In Google Plus you have the ability to email select individuals in a circle and provide them with updates. This can be a tricky tool to balance as if you consistently email those in a circle it can be perceived as unwanted spam. Similar to posting on all social media platforms, quality over quantity.

Join Communities

Communities are a very helpful feature for businesses! They are similar to circles, but instead of having to add people personally, you are able to post and see posts by all individuals in a community group. This can make for very large communities and networks all for specific interests. What this does for your business, is it allows you to reach your target audience by simply joining a community and posting in it. You are able to create your own community if one does not exist for your target, but it can take time to build up a following for that community.

Now that you have the tools to maximize your Google + page, remember to add a G+1 button to your business website!
